Essential oils are exquisite for the face. These recipes are quick and super easy to make. Save money and make your own blends! Always remember to buy organic and or ethically harvested oils. Cheap brands tend to be diluted with oils the likes of Jojoba or not even real essential oil. And a little goes a long way. Dark glass jars/bottles are the best for storing your blends. Besides you can always re-use the glass jar. Essential oils should be used with carrier oils (Lavender can be a carrier, Grapeseed, Jojoba, Sweet Almond oil etc...)
Before we even begin here are some key points:
* Sterilize the bottles and utensils.
* Tie your hair up if it is long.
* Have everything ready so you are not running around the house trying to find things.
You will need:
* Dark glass bottles with droppers.
* Glass jar with spout (for easy pouring)
* Your selection of essential and carrier oils.
* Your formula & a pen for any adjustments you make. And your labels.
Apricot & Rose facial oil
(Normal skin types)
This will make 45ml
2 Tablespoons #Apricot Kernel oil
1 Tablespoon #Rosehip seed oil
2 Drops #Rose essential oil
2 Drops #Cypress essential oil
2 Drops #Clarysage essential oil (Do not use if you have low blood pressure)
2 Drops #Patchouli essential oil
Combine the Apricot and Rosehip oils into a bowl. Add the essential oils and gently stir. Pour into your bottle. Store in a cool dark place.
(All skin types for the evening only)
5 Drops #Myrrh
5 Drops #Elemi (Do not use if pregnant)
2 Drops #Frankincense
2 Drops #Rose
1 Drop #Lavender
You can double, and or even triple this formula. Combine the oils. Gently invert the bottle a few times to blend the oils - do not shake! Store in a cool dark place.
Lemon & Tea tree facial oil
(Perfect for oily - acne prone skin. Evening only)
Makes 45 ml +
2 Tablespoons #Grapeseed oil
1 Tablespoon #Jojoba oil
4-6 Drops #Teatree oil (4 for oily skin - 6 for pimples and acne)
2-3 Drops #Lemon essential oil (2 for oily skin - 3 for pimples and acne)
1 Drop #Cedarwood essential oil
1 Drop #Rosemary essential oil
#Teatree essential oil may take some getting used to (it's very eucalyptus'y).
(Do not use if you have cuts or open wounds)
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup #Grapeseed oil (can add more or less depending on your preference)
or #Coconut oil
2 Tablespoons #Glycerin
Combine all the ingredients except the carrier oil into a bowl and mix. Slowly add the Grape seed or coconut oil until you reach your desired thickness. Scoop into your jar that has a lid.
When using do not let water get into the jar - you do not have a preservative. (And no Vitamin E is not a real preservative).
#Grapeseed oil is a lightweight, penetrating oil that leaves no residue.
#Coconut oil is thicker and forms a barrier against the elements.
Next week bath melts, body butters, solid body bars & conditioning hair oil.
