My love of essential oils began in my teens. Let's blame Aunty Jean and her daughters for that. Not only did those ladies delve into the esoteric they also valued and promoted the use of essential oils and plants.
After all, Mother Nature has been inspirational in the development of many a pharmaceutical. Take Willow bark for example:
(Willow bark has been used as a traditional medicine for more than 3500 years. Unknown to the ancient Sumerians and Egyptians who made use of it, the active agent within willow bark was salicin, which would later form the basis of the discovery of aspirin). https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/bjh.14520
I have compiled a a mini list (I say mini as these are great for beginners) of essential oils that should be in everyone's medicine cabinet.

insect bites, oily skin, itching, cuts, sores, stress.
Candida, cuts, acne, antiseptic, psoriasis, Stimulating, clearing.
immune building, anti-bacterial, cold sores.
Sensitive skin, eczema. Anxiety, sleep issues,
soothing, boils, acne, rashes, menopause. Calming, loneliness, fear,
irritable, insomnia, anger.
Dry & mature skin, skin care, eczema, Anger, anxiety, panic,
aphrodisiac, female reproductive organs, depression, happiness,
peace, sensual, romance.
Hair loss, dandruff, arthritis, cramps. Fatigue, burnout, memory
poor circulation, dull skin, aching muscles. Concentration, confidence.
(Please don's use if you have epilepsy).
Let's talk about doses and ages. I personally don't use essential oils in children under 2, yeah that's just me and then I still am very cautious about using the oils topically (directly onto the skin) on anyone under 16 years of age. Please use essential oils with a carrier oil like Argon, Olive, Coconut, Jojoba, Almond and Grape seed.
Please do your homework and check if the essential oils do not contraindicate any meds you are currently taking. If you have diabetes, epilepsy, blood pressure etc... PLEASE, PLEASE see if the oils will effect you.
An example would be Grapefruit essential oil and cholesterol medication.
